  Mindful Self Care Programs
mindfulness-based courses for doctors and healthcare professionals

(especially in the midst of a pandemic)

Peace.

It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work.
It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

                                                                                                                                                         ~ unknown
The 6 week courses are designed for medical and healthcare staff who need a time friendly introduction to mindfulness and compassionate self care.
Practising 15 minute guided meditations daily and cultivating mindfulness in daily life under the guidance of an experienced mindfulness teacher has been shown to be helpful in reducing stress.
It also allows participants to see if this is an approach that resonates as an ongoing practice of self care.

The 6 week course can then be a stepping stone to a lifelong mindfulness practice enriched by longer courses and teachings along the way.
These courses have been designed by an experienced mindfulness teacher and  practicing doctor, and have been successfully used in a range of healthcare settings since 2013. They have also been successfully adapted for use in educational and other settings.

The COVID-19 pandemic meant finding flexible and safe ways to make the courses accessible online via zoom classrooms.
Face to face groups are being carefully reintroduced in Adelaide.
Details are available in the calendar

Intention

There are many reasons to practice mindfulness. It can be helpful to be aware of our intentions so that the practice is alive and relevant to our lives

Attention

It involves learning how to cultivate awareness by paying attention with focus and flexibility, moment by moment.

Attitude

The attitude we are invited to bring to our experience in each moment is one of friendly interest and open acceptance.
