Information regarding learning to teach the 6-week Mindful Self Care course
Thank you for your interest in teaching the 6-week Mindful Self Care course. I have provided some information below, whilst the external teacher arrangements are under review. Feel free to clarify anything you need to with us first. If you are satisfied with these arrangements and interested in proceeding, please contact us for more information.
Information for teachers
1. Training, supervision and support for external teachers of the MSCP 6-week course
For trained mindfulness teachers, preparation to deliver the course is needed and considers the length and depth of previous mindfulness teacher training experience, familiarity with the underpinning models and the degree of understanding of the context for which the course will be used.
It is expected that teachers will familiarise themselves with the 2 meditations designed specifically for the course, so they can confidently lead these during the classes (available at http://www.mindfulscp.com/audio.html)
Teacher preparation can be provided either via a personalised training and supervision arrangement, or attendance at the (approximately) annual Teacher Training Workshop, and supervision thereafter as needed.
MSCP teachers will be provided with all the materials needed to deliver the course in keeping with its intentions.
2. Teacher Responsibilities
3. Insurance
It is the responsibility of each teacher to have his or her own professional indemnity insurance.
4. Course fees
It is recommended that you charge a course fee that is commensurate with your level of experience, the context you are working within and the costs of the materials and supervision.
5. Policy re: professional and ethical boundaries

5. Policy re: professional and ethical boundaries
- General information may be provided to participants about on-going practice groups available but it is best not to encourage participants to attend any particular meditation group after the end of the course in order to protect their individual rights and choices, and to ensure no conflict of interest. This is a secular course and not one that is intended to lead to any particular spiritual path.
- Teachers may use some ideas from the course in other areas of their work after discussion with the author, and as long as the source is respectfully acknowledged and the 6 week MSCP course is not replicated in whole and/or renamed as another entity.
- Teachers may decide to use alternative poems relevant to the local culture apart from The Guest House and Autobiography in Five Chapters. Teachers must refrain from adding their own religious or buddhist teachings as this is a secular course.
