A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life.

A self-compassion course
With a focus on reducing self-criticism and supporting well being
1.5 hour classes over six weeks
Brief meditation practices and compassion exercises at home
Based on the work of Prof Paul Gilbert who founded the Compassionate Mind Foundation (www.compassionatemind.co.uk), this 6 week course explores the theory, research and practices of compassion.
Compassion may be defined as an ability to see another person’s suffering combined with a wish to take steps to alleviate that suffering
While this is the basic tenet of healthcare, we are rarely taught the skills explicitly. Nor are we taught how to apply them to ourselves in order to resource ourselves well over a long career.
Learning about the theory of human compassion and soothing systems, recognising the blocks we all have to being kind to ourselves, and practicing more compassionate responses are some of the topics covered in the course. Opportunities to discuss experiences with the home practice, the benefits and the obstacles that often arise are provided within the structure of the course, the support of a teacher, and the fellowship of other participants.
Classes will have a maximum of 16 participants to provide a safe and comfortable setting for discussions.
